Frozen pies are a great treat for the summer, because you don’t need to worry about turning on a hot oven and baking them! If you have room in your freezer, you can have a nice cool summertime dessert perfect for family gatherings or just for fun.

This arctic mouse has directions for making your own graham cracker crust – of course you can also always use a store-bought ready made graham cracker crumb crust.

If you do make your own graham cracker crust, one thing that is very important is that you use a metal pie pan or cake pan – glass pans may break in the freezer, and that would be a disaster!

It is difficult to know exactly when this recipe may have been invented or what the original source for the recipe may be.

In researching the history of Marshmallow Creme, we searched all three major brands that make the marshmallow creme and could not find one instance of arctic mousse listed as any of its recipes.

So, the source of this arctic mousse pie recipe remains a mystery but no doubt this tasty frozen pie would make for a great treat any summer night!

Graham Cracker Pie Crust

  • 1 ¼ cup graham cracker crumbs
  • cup butter or margarine melted
  • ¼ cup sugar

Arctic Mousse Pie Filling

  • 7 oz. jar of marshmallow creme
  • 2 oz of unsweetened chocolate melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup whipping cream whipped


  • Combine graham cracker crumbs, margarine, and sugar – press into a square 8" metal pan.
  • Combine marshmallow creme, chocolate, and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Fold in whipped cream.
  • Pour into pan over crust and freeze until set. {About 4 hours}


Be sure to only use freezer safe pans!
