You know how some homemade chocolate chip cookies are just softer and better than others? Well, one of the secrets to super soft and chewy perfect cookies is instant vanilla pudding.

When I stumbled across this recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies in our Ohio Art Floral Vintage Recipe box, I almost discarded it, thinking that it was probably just some regular ole cookie recipe copied from the back of a bag of Chocolate chips…

Well, no! Turns out these cookies have instant vanilla pudding as a secret ingredient, and I was so excited because I think my never-ending quest to find the elusive “perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe” is finally solved!

Pudding in the cookies no doubt makes these cookies a lot softer than traditional chocolate chip cookies. If you’re someone who likes crunchy cookies, then this recipe is probably not for you.

But if you’re like me and you like cookies that are soft and delicious, the pudding in the mix makes such a big difference!

This recipe is attributed to coming from Pat, and we noticed a few recipes in our box came from Pat. Other recipes from Pat include her Oatmeal Cookies Recipe as well as this Italian Creme Cake recipe.

If you are looking for super soft and chewy perfect cookies, this recipe is for you!

Here is the original handwritten recipe card, front and back:

This recipe makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies, so around 30 cookies. If you want to make more than 2 1/2 dozen, I recommend making it separate batches rather than doubling the recipe as the pudding may begin to set if not baked right away.

Another thing I love about this recipe? It calls for the whole bag of chocolate chips!!!

Of course, I think most chocolate chip cookie recipes call for the whole bag, but when we were kids money was SUPER tight, so we usually only used about half a bag when we made chocolate chip cookies. So for me, the thought of using that whole bag sounds great!

You can also optionally add nuts to this chocolate chip cookie if you want. I generally don’t like nuts in my chocolate cookies, even though I do like nuts in other recipes.
